There are a lot of plausible ways that things could go if Shen Yuan met Shen Jiu when they're both grown adults, but for my money the funniest is if they just immediately start trying to maim each other.

Shen Yuan is wondering if there's some sort of mandate of the "if you meet your double you have to kill him" style in effect, but no. It's just that he's still way more pissed off about the child abuse against Binghe than he realizes, while Shen Jiu's reaction to seeing anyone who reminds him of himself is to try and destroy them. There's not a lot of thinking or finesse involved, so they basically go from zero to "rolling in the dirt trying to claw each other's eyes out" with no warning.

FUCK. THESE. THINGS.

I have never encountered a gizmo nor gimbal that I enjoyed interfacing with, not even once. They are the most cumbersome way to interact with anything in 3D space; I would rather chop off my limbs than have to laggardly click, hold, and drag these teeny tiny little tools (for often subtle and precise transformations!).

It is incredibly common to be at an angle where an entire axis is unavailable or unreasonably difficult for you to manipulate. When you're composing a scene of 3D objects, it's not unusual to want to do it in a way that is informed by the current position of your camera. I could rotate the viewport to reach whatever axis is being obscured, but fuck you! I don't want to! Most programs with gizmos have a way to enlarge the axes for this reason—which is great, if you're a fan of having vast portions of the model you're working on obscured by STUPID COLORFUL ARROWS.

So, if not gizmos, then what? I argue that Blender has the best alternative, but Unreal has a pretty compelling one as well. (There are probably other inventive ways of forgoing gizmos in 3D, but these are the two I'm most familiar with. If you know of any other unique control methods for 3D software, I would love to hear about them.)

For Blender, you simply have to press the X, Y, or Z key to constrain the transformation to the corresponding axis; the following manipulation is controlled entirely by the movement of your mouse. You don't have to hold down anything! It is precise, agile, and ergonomic. These controls might be less immediately intuitive than having a literal, visual representation of the axes, but it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces strain on the hands, and with practice, allows you to model so much faster than any gizmo could ever let you.

Unreal, while not a modelling tool, has a similar method of manipulation available. You hold Ctrl, then press a mouse button and drag—left click controls X, right click controls Y, and both simultaneously control Z. It feels very sexy and sleek, like operating a jet. For me, it isn't perfectly ideal (it still involves holding buttons for extended periods of time, and it occupies both hands), but it is infinitely more enjoyable than dealing with gizmos.

I do feel guilty about the sheer extent of my hatred for these poor things. They're so colorful and visually appealing, and certainly the most intuitive way to represent transformations in 3D space. But they suck. They just suck. And they hurt me.

i mean like evan biting barty when theyre laying together, barty pulling strands of evan's hair hard enough for it to hurt but not hard enough to rip it out, evan tapping barty's skin (like tapping tapping, like how asmr-tists (?) tap on things) just because it feels nice, etc.

I'M GONNA SAY SOMETHING CONTROVERSIAL 🙌 i don't see them as a couple with a lot of PDA. yes, barty is obsessively slavering all over evan in public, but it's like... one-sided and perhaps a touch performative? the most affection evan will publicly show is maybe quietly holding onto barty's sleeve <- he is always doing this

but i think they're perceptive characters who are both highly Aware of each other's bodies at any given moment, and their real pda is just how seamlessly they move around each other. it's how they always end up sitting next to one another, or anticipating each other's movements and needs. they're not touching, but you can almost palpably feel them pinging each other like satellites.

fanon barty is super touchy in private too. and i agree that in public/with friends he 100% is (he likes to use physicality to Instigate Reactions). but i try to remind myself that ESPECIALLY with an intimate partner, he is someone with deep issues surrounding bodily autonomy/his own embodiment, who is unused to being touched in a nonviolent way. there's a difference between barty initiating sexual contact and the more casual intimacy you describe. EVAN is the one who grew up cuddling a sibling, and he most likely initiates those little shows of affection....

but mostly i think they show affection via that quiet mutual (somewhat stalker-ish) awareness. it's a careful peeling back of their respective shells

have i actually discussed neo and sonic's deal in the bad end au in detail i'm not sure. i mean like there’s more to it than just mutually consensual murder though that’s a big part of it. but like it’s specifically to stop her from hurting people for fun basically. neo's petrified of sonic bc he's someone she can’t kill and that's the one thing she’s good at but that’s not something that applies to, like, the rest of the world. but she really really wants to kill him and make him suffer more than anyone else. so the deal is basically that she can do fucked up evil torture murder attempts on him (bc he's bored and doesn’t really mind) all she wants if she doesn’t do that to other people for fun. and also on a level deeper than the literal text it kinda just gives them an excuse to hang out and play final fantasy together and they’re extremely lonely fourteen year olds.

robins but ranked by how quickly they seem to have gotten to a "bruce is my dad" stage

1- jason. thats his dad. bruce didnt really have much competition given that jasons dad was practically nonexistent in his life.

2- damian. blood relation. not very enthusiastic about it after he bonds with dick and gets a taste of what a guardian can be, but still accepts it to some extent. same cant be said of bruce who insists on being Bad Weird about the whole thing.

3- tim. yes he did make up a whole fake uncle to dodge the adoption draft, but more so (from what he tells dick at least) bc he saw how messy/raw things were between dick and bruce and he didnt wanna make dick feel bad if bruce adopted him at that moment.

4- dick. he and bruce are so messy its not ok. even when bruce gave him the adoption papers it was so. they are trying so hard to be father and son but it does Not work for a variety of reasons. from personal conflicts, to dick having had the most loving original family of any of the others, to them wanting to be equals but already not being able to healthily manage that with the ex mentor-mentee relationship let alone a father-son one. the cant even navigate their former hero-sidekick dynamic their asses are NOT gonna be able to create a familial connection there. at BEST they might work up to brothers, but there's way too much history for father and son.
